The data set covers field experimental data of five experiments covering a wide range of growing conditions. The selected data come from an experiment on interactive effects of elevated CO2 by water and elevated CO2 by nitrogen fertilizer application from a Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment experiment (FACE) at Arizona in USA; a nitrogen rate fertilizer experiment from three locations and two years in The Netherlands; water deficit experiments at Lincoln in New Zealand and at Cunderdin in Australia; and a temperature sensitivity experiment at Obregon in Mexico. The data consist of 65 experimental treatments with more than 1000 detailed observations. From this data set we took a minimum data set relevant for our domain.

Background

We used DSSAT user manual for definition of variables

CROP_CODE

Attribute: defined in the study
Remark: -

CUL_NAME

Attribute: CUL_NAME (in management file)
Remark: -

CROP_DEV_BBCH

Attribute: pdate (management files), ADAT/MDAT (experimental files)
Remark: The following translation table was used to convert stage into BBCH value.
Note that for USA and Netherlands there were extra stages that were not yet included:

  • pdate (planting) is mapped to BBHC 00
  • ADAT (anthesis) is mapped to BBHC 61
  • MDAT (physiological maturity) is mapped to BBHC 89

PLANT_DENSITY_CNT_M2

Attribute: PLPOP
Remark: -

TOPS_DWT_KGHA

Attribute: CWAD (canopy (above ground) dry weight)
Remark: -

SO_DWT_KGHA

Attribute: GWAD (grain weight (kg DM ha-1))
Remark: -

SO_DWT_KGHA (if GWAD is not available)

Attribute: HWAH (yield at harvest (kg DM ha-1))
Remark: -
